What are you reading?

In continuing with Delurking week (and stealing she likes purples' idea) I thought I'd ask a question to see if more people would tell me they're around :) I need to get working on getting my readership up I tells ya.

I want to know what your favourite book is. I'm looking for ideas for new authors. I read a lot of.... fluff/trash. A lot of the books I read are meant to be things I can read while half asleep, things I can skim without missing the meaning. I don't EXCLUSIVELY read that, but it's honestly my preference.

My favourite books however, are by two authors of very similar style. Diana Gabaldon and Sara Donati. Anyone know of any authors who write like this? I love that there are books and books in the same series too... so my enjoyment of these stories just goes on and on :)

Are here is the alien delurk button - as promised :)

Diana Gabaldon is one of my favorite authors as well. Another one I like that writes historical fiction in a somewhat similar way is Sharon Kay Penman. :)

Hands down my favorite fiction read of the decade is The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I think we've had this conversation though and I think you may have read it already, but if not, get to it.

OOoh Sharon Kary Penman - writing it down and getting her first book asap :)

I HAVE read the Time Traveller's Wife and I agree - excellent read. Everyone else should read it too.

While I'm at it, another book to definitely read if you haven't is the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime

I love Time Traveller's Wife, and The Curious Incident... and my favourite pick right now would be Middlesex.
